Old friends visit Reza Babak’s painting exhibition

Reza Babak holds painting exhibition at Sakoo Art School in Tehran.

Veteran Iranian actor Reza Babak has held a painting exhibition at the Sakoo Art School in Tehran.

A number of Babak’s lifelong friends and colleagues, including Parviz Purhosseini, Bahram Shahmohammadlu and Behzad Farahani came together at the school to visit his paintings.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Babak said, “I am not an artist because this is a profession, which has its own special requirements, but I like painting and the artworks on display reflect my personal feelings, which I have felt on the spur of the moment.”

He added that some of his friends had advised him to set up the exhibit and he had longed it would turn into a gathering of his friends.

The exhibit showcased 30 of his paintings created over the past three decades.

The paintings on display encourage viewers to see bright and happy colors, revealing the imaginative mind of Babak.

The actor has painted his works with lines and colors that mostly reveal his feelings.

His other works show his love for nature, a nature full of colors, simple flowers with a few purple or yellow lines resembling a big farm with autumn trees.

According to Sakoo director Narges Soleymanzadeh, the exhibition has been organized to celebrate Babak’s professional lifetime achievements.

The one-day exhibit was extended for three more days, due to popular demand.

Sakoo art school is also set to organize similar celebrations and exhibits for other veteran artists who have made great contributions to cultural development in the country.

Born in 1945, Babak studied Acting and Directing. He made his acting debut with theater.

His first television role was in the film ‘Ballad of Tara’ in 1979.

After a ten-year hiatus, he resumed acting from 1989 appearing in ‘Reyhaneh’ which saw him nominated for a Fajr International Film Festival Crystal Simorgh for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

What made him a household name, however, was the drama ‘Ziba Beauty Salon’ in 1990.

In 1991, he appeared in ‘The Singing Cat’ and wrote the screenplay for 'Mr. Luck' in 1994.

His other films and series include ‘Primrose Flower’, ‘The Sunny Man’, ‘The Store’, ‘The Purple’, ‘Invitation’, and ‘The Safe’.
